Boréale Noire

Boréale Noire (5.5%): a stout from Quebec, Canada. Needless to say I've been pretty disappointed with the Boréale brand so far. The "Blonde" gave me a headache; the "Blanche" (white) was errr .... quite chemical. But like I said before I'm a very forgiving beer finder and decided to try the brand's stout.

  • Pours a deep brown liquid; nice beige foam.
  • Very nice dark chocolate aroma with hints of grapes.
  • Delicious dark chocolate taste.
  • Aftertaste is somewhat seltzer-like. There is also a secondary caramel aftertaste.
  • Smooth buzz, I felt good.
  • The darker standard bottle looks quite elegant.

Verdict: this was a pleasant surprise. Highly recommended stout.
